How do I hook up component 720p or 1080i.?

I recently got a Emerson 32" LCD HDTV. I currently have a Comcast DVR box (Which is HDMI/Component/Coax Ect...) compatible. The max resolution on the tv is 720p/1080i. I plan on using component because there are some minor problems with hdmi. When I get my component cables, are they capable of 720p OR 1080i? And if so, which would be better for basic tv use?
