What is a Philosophical reflection on my essay that I wrote?
Thought crossed her mind every time someone touched her, spoke to her, and even looked at her. This image ran through her mind, the second her alarm went off she would open her eyes, and immediately close them. Still this image was there haunting her. Crystal was12 years old when her mother found out what had been happening to her. Crystal’s soul died inside. She felt hopeless and her mother was filled with anger. Her mother went insane, and couldn’t help herself anymore. She took her daughter by her arm and dragged her over to the man who did this to her, kicked down his door, and walked towards this man, still. She sat Crystal across from this man, took him by the collar of his filthy t-shirt and hit him until she felt warm liquid beginning to cover her feet. At that moment Crystal knew that it was over. Her mother was red of anger and knew what she had done would come with negative consequences. In a split second, Crystal and her mother packed all their belongings and made their way on to the road, running away as far as possible. It had almost been a year now that they had moved away from this horrible place. One day Crystal received a phone call from her aunt that she needed to find a way to get to the hospital because the doctors were having problems with Crystal’s mother. Finally she had made it to the hospital room and all she saw was a terrifying sight. She stood still in panic, her mother tightly squeezing her arm and hand, yelling to make it stop. The lights from the ceiling blinding her from seeing what was happening beside her, she whispers to her mother to relax. Her mother is deaf from the pain; she can’t hear the words coming from her only daughter’s mouth. Her daughter closes her eyes, still standing next to the bed.She looks over towards the monitor, and sees the heart rate rising, and then going back down again. She hears voices, they sound frightened, worried, and rushed. She closes her eyes again; glimpse at her mother just laying there, her face is red.Tears are just dropping one by one to the floor. Looking at the monitor once more, she understands that the operation was not going to be a success. She cries to her mother, and gently she puts her hand on her mother’s forehead. They are now cheek to cheek, her mother whispering apologies for the harm she is imposing on her daughter. Her mother cries and looks into her daughter’s eyes, repeatedly saying, ‘I love you, I’m sorry!’ Crystal closes her eyes, afraid to experience the worst. Suddenly, a crying voice, a sound of relief was heard, a sound she will remember forever. The daughter feels her mother let go of her, who silently lies on the bed, exhausted. Mother is short of breath, and needs time to recover.Crystal is the first to hold her new baby brother and he is perfectly healthy. She has never seen such a handsome little creature. The doctors’ faces were glowing and the mother was just ecstatic. Gasping for air one last time, she was no longer crying but feeling instead satisfied, blessed, especially after being informed that her second child was a healthy baby. It was peaceful to hear.A few years went by and they had no help from the government, they did not own a cent in their pocket and Crystal is still a young child. She did not know how to react towards everything that had happened to her in the past year. She was always bothered by something that she couldn’t stop thinking of.She was looking for reasons, actions, feelings, and a possible conclusion to this episode in her life She wondered if she would still be like all her other friends or if her friends experienced such horror in their lives.Would she find happiness in her life againWill she be safe; will her little brother grow up and experience the same things she has or could he look like this man and if so will she be able to look at him the same? She asked herself over and over; what is the meaning of life if someone has to live through physical abuse, emotional or even harsh mental abuseHow can someone make themselves a better person, can past experiences reshape you into a better person?Crystal sat with her mother and they both tried to find reason in the bit of sensethey had left. She decided to read and research information about these kindsofexperiences that people go through and how these people turned out to be.She has been through a level of individual, living experience and this was only the beginning in the process of learning.Crystal later realized this and with the help of research, that unfortunateanddevastating events are experiences that all individuals must face in their lives.Although many people allow these experiences to affect them in a negative wayCrystal learned that one must find it in themselves to accept and understand what is going on, and to be proactive towards it.Everyone has different manners of coping with stressful, traumatizing and hurtful experiences one must find the strength to look past the event, and continue living their life to their fullest...
